Pretty funny and awesome. Meng and Toph are cousins(voice actor reason), Korra is Sokka and Katara's cousin, and more importantly they all look awesome and live up to the story well. P.S you can still feel the Korrasami vibe
Are you going to do this for other characters? If so, sweet. This pic is like a reference sheet for me when I'm reading SRU, they're just so good! P.S. Do you exude talent? It sure as hell seems like it!
She's done a LOT of artwork for this project under commission, and thus has done most of the characters at least once. It's quite possible we will work together again in the future, as she does great stuff! Thanks for giving the story a try!
This isn't the Avatarverse, though. This is a modern day American universe -- where names like "Longshot" and "Smellerbee" don't belong (I'd argue they actually don't belong in the Avatarverse, either, actually, since they don't match any established culture within the Avatarverse).
Their names weren't meant to be a 'jab' at anything, they're just...names. Just normal, real life person names.
Well, the Water Tribe culture in general was inspired by the Inuits, a group of people native to the region of the world that's currently Alaska/Canada. So, biologically, that's where that people group would've come from.
It's short for 'Saint Roku University,' and yea, as Sakura said, it's my alternate universe story. If you were curious, it starts here: [link] and there's a LOT of artwork depicting the characters and many scenes that you can check out here: [link]
Some artists are more deliberate about drawing SRU!Smellerbee's lip like that. Such as in these pics: [link][link][link][link]
Toph's hair is actually black. Aang's is dark brown. So I think your monitor's color might be weird. And altogether those are all really specific nitpicks for what is obviously not the TV version of the characters.
I'm surprised you didn't ask something more obvious like, "Why are they in modern-day clothes, why is Longshot wearing a cowboy hat?" etc. The answer is simple, though, and it will answer every single question you can have: read the description. That's what it's there for.
As it says in the description, the picture is about an Alternate Universe story of the Avatar characters, so they are not the same as the show, that's why Zuko doesn't have his scar, Aang doesn't have his tattoos, and why they are in normal clothes.
